Kicking off 2018 with maximum effort.
As 2017 came to a close, we jumped right into 2018 with a variety of new and exciting projects, organizational changes, and I threw in a few personal experiments. Here is the run down…
One Key Metric: Create 5 Star Experiences
Focus is key within an organization. Research shows that the more goals you try to hit, the less likely you are to accomplish any of them. For 2018, Polar Notion has 1 focus: Create 5 Star Experiences. Whether for our team, clients, and their customers… the goal is to refine our end to end experience for everyone who interacts with the company. We’re polishing project management practices, rethinking team members benefits, and exploring new techniques, all in pursuit of 1 goal.
END IT Movement.
For the last 4 years, we’ve had the pleasure of working with END IT Movement to create unique and engaging digital experiences that drive awareness and action towards ending the global slavery crisis. This year was our best work yet. https://enditmovement.com/
Our team has done a lot of great design work of the years. Bouncing around from our website to social media, we never truly committed to a single location to highlight our work. Now, Dribbble is our home for Polar Notion design work. https://dribbble.com/polarnotion
Startup Picture Day Prototype Prime
After a great event in Chattanooga in 2017, we kicked off 2018 with and Atlanta event (OTP) at Prototype Prime. A great showing of startup founders, entreprenuers, and business owners just north of the city.

College transfers are complex and the lack of transparency leads to frustration. The team at Affordable College is simplifying the college transfer process and putting power back in the students’ pocket.
The pilot is rolling out to 1 college but having launched just over a week ago, we’ve already got hundreds of transfer requests from eager students.
DailyLectio on Android
Our team has worked on the DailyLectio system for 2 years now. It’s a simple product that provides a daily reading plan to a pretty niche group of users. That being said, the continued success of the product and growth of the user base has led it to now being available on iOS and Android as well.
Web Application (Launched 2016)
iOS App (Launched 2017)
Android App (Launched 2018)
Sharpp: Franchise Management Tool.
It’s not about how much money you make, it’s about how much you keep. Sharpp is a franchise management tool built to help franchise owners keep more of their hard earned revenue. We’re piloting in 2 Chick-fil-A restaurant through February and rolling out to a dozen more in March. More news on this soon.
I love coffee. I love the smell, the taste, and the way it makes your brain tingle. If you’ve read this far in the post (hi mom), this probably comes as no surprise. Around our office, it’s just as much a social factor as it is about caffeine. Few things compare to a cup of black, freshly brewed, specialty coffee.
In preparation for baby #2 (coming in May), I’ve weaned off coffee to hopefully lower my tolerance. As baby #2 arrives, I’ll likely return to the sweet embrace of this delightful beverage but as a much more socially acceptable level.
The goal is simple: Limit or eliminate the consumption of dairy and meet. For me, it’s not about saving the animals or about the planet. It’s a health choice, plain and simple. I feel better with less of it. That being said, Meg and I have made a rule: “Our choice should not become someone else’s burden.” If we’re at a friends house, we eat what is served. Unless someone asks, we’re not soliciting the information. If the team is going to a restaurant, we go where they go.
I don’t have a strong judgement against people who adamantly hold to their dietary principles. People are entitled to their own choices. For us, in this season, we’re trying something new and seeing where it takes us.
It’s your turn. Go, launch something this month!
