Do you create more value than you cost?

Do you create more value than you cost?
How often do you check?
How do you KNOW?

We assume "yes". But if that were the case, most companies would be exploding with growth, surplus, profit, and value-creation.

They're not.
Which means most people aren't.

A consistent salary is not proof of value.
Busyness is not proof.
Meetings...
Messages...
Activity...
are not proof.

Value creation should be measurable.
Not all of it, all the time... but some of it. Probably most of it.

- revenue increase
- cost decrease
- time saved
- risk avoided
- opportunities added
- customers retained

If we have no signal of our own value creation, we shouldn't be surprised when others can't see it either.

A shocking amount of work survives on ambiguity.

The people who create obvious, measurable surplus become increasingly hard to replace.
