Endurance is the great equalizer.
Endurance is the great equalizer.
Over a long enough timeline, most competition disappears.
- Entrepreneurs stagnate before $1M in revenue.
- Engineers leave startups for safer jobs.
- New habits fade in days, not years.
- Runners fill 5Ks, not 100-milers.
... the list goes on.
The pattern shoes up everywhere I spend my time:
business, health, relationships, creativity.
It’s not just about “keeping the lights on” or sticking with it longer than others.
The value of endurance is NOT just about refusing to quit (that’s stubbornness).
Endurance is a sustained pursuit.
It's iteration, curiosity, and persistence over time.
Early in my career, I heard Seth Godin say, “If I fail more than you do, I win.”
Out of context, it sounds like another quote about failure.
It’s not.
It’s about volume attempts. Continuing to show up and try.
Yes, mistakes, setbacks, and failures are part of the path.
But choosing to continue in spite of them is the real advantage.
Those who endure the most hardship while still pursuing their goals have an outsized chance of success.
Endurance is continuing to ask "how can this be better?" on Day 1,000 with the same (or even more) curiosity we had on Day 1.
