Hoʻoponopono

Hoʻoponopono
Ho-oh-poh-no-poh-no. (Phew, now say that five times, fast.)

It is a traditional Hawaiian practice of reconciliation.
An effort to make things right.
Four phrases, repeated like a mantra.

First with yourself (perhaps in a mirror).

- I'm sorry
- Please forgive me
- Thank you
- I love you

Then with someone else.

- I'm sorry
- Please forgive me
- Thank you
- I love you

Simple words, but hard to practice.

Most conflict isn't solved by being right.
It's solved by being open.

Open to repair.
Open to acknowledge pain.
Open to move forward, together.

Though with a slightly different interpretation, it was cool seeing this show up on HBO's "The Pitt", as a ritual to help siblings process the loss of their dad.
