I watched my 8yo manifest the heck out of her birthday.
She was pumped, talking and dreaming for months in advance about ideas and what she wanted... for her party, for gifts, for birthday dinner.

The list went on an on.

To family.
To friends.
To anyone who'd listen.

Well, her birthday came... and it was awesome.

- French-toast for breakfast
- Biscuits and potatoes from KFC (her favorite).
- Push pops from her favorite ice-cream place.
- New tumbling mats/wedges from grandparents.
- Her older sister stayed up late to decorate.
- 3D printed trinkets from kids at school.
- One neighbor even setup a scavenger hunt for her.

The common response, "well, we just knew how excited she was..."

Of course she was excited. What kid isn't excited about their birthday? Everyone knowing a kid is excited isn't enough.

The difference was clarity, specificity, and repetition. People knew what mattered to her because she made it easy to know.

Not through manipulation or strategy but consistent, joyful expression.

Most adults don't do this well.

We hide what we want.
Downplay our excitement.
Avoid repeating ourselves.

We don't want to risk sounding annoying, unrealistic, or self-centered.
Then we wonder why no one knows how to support us.
