Optimizing too early is a form of procrastination.

Optimizing too early is a form of procrastination.
Premature optimization. It was popularized in programming, but businesses, health, and lifestyle design suffer the same fate:

We polish too soon.

Within any pursuit, most value comes from a small number of behaviors.
Those behaviors, however, aren't the sexy, fun, or glamorous stuff.
They feel mundane, not like magic.

Instead, we gravitate toward the shiny distractions:
💊 Supplements instead of vegetables.
🧘♂️ Meditation apps instead of real conversations.
👨💻 LinkedIn posts instead of building skills.
🎨 Brand redesigns instead of better customer experience.
🌴 Elaborate vacations instead of daily presence.

These can have their place, but not as alternatives to the fundamentals.

The fundamentals are rarely instagram-worthy.
They don't come in a package you can buy.
They require showing up when it's boring.

Business...
• solve a real problem people will pay for
• get customers through a reliable channel
• deliver what you promised
• manage your cash flow
• address underperforming staff

Relationships...
• be present when we're together (phones away)
• handle conflict quickly (and apologize)
• create rituals together

Physical Health...
• move your body most days (10k steps is a great start)
• eat mostly whole (unprocessed) foods
• sleep 7-8 hours on a consistent schedule
• get outside

Community...
• show up consistently
• help folks without being asked
• celebrate others' wins

Fundamentals first... then optimize, if necessary.
