Ten years ago, a mentor shared a line which stuck with me:
"One of life's greatest gifts is friends who are willing to dream our dreams with us."
It continues to check out.
This weekend, three friends joined me on a quest through the jungle, across unforgiving terrain, in pursuit of an aggressive goal...
Finishing 100 miles in under 30 hours.
• Each logged between 13-28 miles, most of which was in the dark.
• Two of them didn't own trail running shoes before my invitation.
• One had barely seen more than pictures before hitting the course.
... but everyone was ready for an adventure.
And what an adventure it was.
Thank you Jeremy Seick, Luke Baker, and Jeff Lopes (dad).
As I crossed the finish at 29 hours and 40 minutes,
I got an award that says "Finisher"...
but the real prize is having friends who will run into the darkness with you.
