At what age should kids stop trick-or-treating?
Based on my research, most parents answer 13.
So, I've only got 4 left with my 9yo.
It's not about Halloween.
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of my kids wandering around in the dark, taking candy from strangers, and eating tons of sugar. But if I dwell on that, I miss the bigger picture.
I have come to LOVE the creative elements of Halloween and the excitement it ignites within my kids.
- Imagination
- Creativity
- Surprise
- Community
Viewed through a simpler lens, Halloween is my excuse to do an elaborate art project with my kids.
Elaborate art project = awesome memories.
Plus, with the promise of untold sums of candy on the other end, kids are easily motivated to see the project through. We all know too well how hard finishing projects can be.
We started 2 weeks early this year and I'm savoring every additional moment.
Only 4 more fall art projects with my oldest daughter.
Scarcity makes us notice what abundance seems to hide.
