I can't stop thinking about a quote from Steve Harvey,
I can't stop thinking about a quote from Steve Harvey,
"Your dad is the only man who wants you to do better than him."
My thoughts are pulled in two directions.
Direction 1:
Wow! This resonates with my own experience.
I distinctly remember a conversation where my dad said, "my hope for you and your brothers is that you do more than I've been able to do."
It's been decades now, but I still think of those words at each major milestone.
Direction 2:
One in four American children are growing up without a father in the home.
We talk about fatherlessness in terms of poverty rates and crime statistics.
We don't talk enough about the quieter loss.
The millions of people navigating life without a man in their corner who genuinely wants them to win.
But perhaps more destructive,
a society of men only rooting for themselves.
