I felt the brain drain starting. So much "progress", so quickly... atrophy of our actual skills was inevitable. So, I started messing around habits to help. These are the three that stuck.

Three daily (recurring) tasks to maintain my "builder" muscles:

1. "Publish Something" (without ai). Writing is thinking. Organizing our thoughts and sharpening our minds will continue to be in rare supply.

2. "Write 10 Ideas" (without ai). Generate 10 ideas about anything. Business, personal, about a hobby, for a specific person, etc... 10 ideas on any topic.

3. "Build something" (with ai). Taking something from start to finish (each day) using ai. Something complete. A landing page, a feature, a bug fix, whatever… but take some concept from idea to execution to done, within a day.

… Oh yeah, and stop anything that causes excessive scrolling. Most platforms are no more than ai-slop/noise and numb the brain. We need those braincells to create, not consume.

Like brushing our teeth, doing these once or twice won't make a difference. But the daily practice quickly stacks up.

• hundreds of writings
• thousands of new ideas
• loads of new portfolio pieces

And the best part, we preserve a mind that can still produce it's own creative juices and the will to bring them to life.
