"I'm bad at it."

"I'm bad at it."
My kids say this, but they're wrong.
Usually they aren't bad at it, they've just never done it before.

Words matter.

Adults say similar things.
"I'm not a numbers person."
"I'm not a creative."
We have learned to dress up the same limiting belief.

"I'm bad at it" is armor.
If you're bad at it, no one expects you to try.
It's not lazy thinking, it's self-defense.

But inexperience is NOT inability.

We aren't bad at things we've never done.
We're just beginners.
Beginners aren't expected to be good.

It's a gap in practice, not potential.

Instead, I prefer: "I haven't learned this yet" or "I'm new to this."
Same facts. Different story.
