In 2022, there were 42,795 traffic fatalities in the U.S.
More than 90% involved human error.
• Distracted driving
• Speeding
• Impaired driving
• Fatigue
• Reckless decisions

In most of our lifetimes, we'll likely watch that number fall into the thousands.
Then the hundreds.
Maybe even the dozens.

Before we fight to keep humans behind the wheel, it's worth considering if it's a battle worth winning.

If autonomous systems can dramatically reduce traffic deaths, let's hand them the keys. Not to diminish our humanity.

It lets us redirect our time, talent, and attention toward problems that still require human ingenuity.

• Cancer
• Heart disease
• Suicide
• Loneliness
• Addiction

Some opportunities are still worth our attention.
"Resisting autonomous driving" probably isn't one of them.
