"The hay is in the barn" is a common phrase among competitive runners.
"The hay is in the barn" is a common phrase among competitive runners.
It means all the work and training are complete.
So... rest until race day.
Welp, the hay is in the barn!
On Saturday, I'll set off into the jungle toward my second HURT100 finish.
• 100 miles
• 25,000ft of vert
• 30 hours of effort
It's hard to explain the sensation.
Standing shoulder to shoulder with 140 other runners in peak condition, prepared to conquer one of the toughest footraces on Earth.
My two goals:
1. sub-30hr finish (performance)
2. enjoy the gift (personal)
What's the gift? All of it.
• Iconic event.
• Beautiful island.
• Incredible volunteers.
• Personal health and fitness.
• Shared striving, pain, and overcoming.
Most of life isn't race day.
It's the thousands of hours that come before.
The sacrifice. The endurance.
Quiet, unseen work.
But sometimes you get to cash it in.
To celebrate the progress.
Lucky for me, this party lasts two days.
