Anything is possible, but we can't do everything.
Anything is possible, but we can't do everything.
Not at once. Maybe not ever. So we have to pick.
Learning how to pick is its own skill.
The trouble is, when we're juggling it all, we rarely pause to ask whether any of it is worth continuing. Busyness becomes its own momentum.
The most dangerous thing about being busy isn't exhaustion, it's that busyness distracts us from proceeding with intent.
I return, ad nauseam, to one question:
What are we optimizing for?
• Wealth?
• Happiness?
• Growth?
• Autonomy?
• Creativity?
• Fun?
There's no universal answer.
There is a universal risk:
Spending time climbing one ladder only to find, once we reach the top, the ladder was leaning against the wrong wall.
How quickly can we notice we're on the wrong ladder?
Will we have the courage to get off?
