There have been a series of bullying incidents at my kids' school.
There have been a series of bullying incidents at my kids' school.
Our family received a personal email from the guidance counselor.
The message was clearly written with AI.
Does it bother me? idk.
On one hand... it's a sensitive topic. I'm sure it's hard to thread the needle of care and compassion, without divulging too much information about the other student (the bully).
AI absolutely makes that easier.
On the other hand... it's a sensitive topic. As I parent, I'm looking for signals the school is actually taking is seriously. I want to understand the unique context and intentions around this specific instance. I wanna know the people involved aren't skipping steps.
AI obfuscates that.
So, I’m left wondering.
In a world where a single sentence can simulate a thoughtful reply, how do we signal ownership, accountability, or genuine presence?
There are still moments where the signal matters.
When trust is on the line, we aren't looking for polish.
We want proof that someone is paying attention.
Sure, artificial intelligence can write the message.
But emotional intelligence knows it should have been a phone call.
